ecotherapy
restoring relationship // within oneself & nature
Imagine taking therapy outdoors. Walking and talking,
together; inhaling the scent of the woodland, feeling the spaciousness of the River, admiring the beauty of the natural world. Connecting. Within yourself, in the company of another, and with the wildlife and flora alongside the trails we walk.
Rooted in Science & Research Literature
Ecotherapy is evidenced to reduce states of depression and anxiety, while amplifying a sense of well-being and confidence, and harnesses focus.Combined with walking, emotional and mental processing is facilitated, liberating and releasing stagnant energies while experiencing the physical benefits of movement. In particular, bilateral movement like walking, catalyzes the integration of difficult historical events while stimulating both hemispheres of the brain to work synchronously toward accomplishment and realization of goals.
Walking in nature, though beneficial in many regards, is not necessary to outdoor sessions.Embodiment practise is incorporating moments of stillness to experience the awe of the natural world through the senses; connecting with beauty, the fragrance of the trees and waters, the feeling of crisp air and wind, and birdsong offers respite to the weary and reinforces a sense of being uplifted and at ease within.
While Ecotherapy sessions are rooted in clinical psychotherapy & counselling training, this work includes practises observed for millennia that have supported wellness of mind, heart, body and spirit. Riverside Walk & Talk sessions are distinct from psychotherapy, counselling and/or coaching.
